Hypertufa Class

I went out to check on my hypertufa farm this afternoon.  I have eleven students signed up for a class through my local adult ed and I pre made these guys and they're curing for the class.  So students get the full hypertufa experience, in the class we talk all about the ins and outs and then we mix a batch, they pour it and take that one home to cure. Then they'll learn about drilling holes, decorating them and then the hypertufa you see in the picture will be cured by then so they plant them in class with succulents.  They get the entire life cycle of hypertufa.  There are still four spaces left.  Check it out - www.CreativeMeTime.com

Hypertufa and Succulent Planter

This is what's on tap in the studio tomorrow - hypertufa and succulents!  We're making our own molds, mixing and casting the hypertufa then the students will plant a hypertufa planter I've cured for them with succulents. Alcohol Ink Ornaments and Dominoes

It was a kiddo day.  First, 29 sixth graders created amazing alcohol ink ornaments and dominoes that they'll transform into necklaces and magnets.  I am amazed at how awesome these turned out.

Camp Fire Glass Class

I am so impressed with the 10-12 year-old Camp Fire group who came to the studio today to create these amazing mosaic glass necklaces.  

Hypertufa Heart Planter

Some friends who saw these photos thought I was baking a chocolate heart cake but alas, no, it's a hypertufa planter.  Hyper what?  Hypertufa is a mixture of perlite, moss and Portland cement.  When it dries, it is lighter weight than regular cement.  This guy gets to cure for a month in a plastic bag and I can't wait for it to be ready.  I'm having a class in January, just in time for Valentine's Day where you'll make your own hypertufa planter and then you'll plant a planter that I've cured for you with succulents I provide.   Need a perfect gift for that spcial gardener in your life?  Come mix up some fun.  Www.CreativeMeTime.com
