Succulent Shoe Garden

One of my succulent shoe gardens is blooming!

Hypertufa Class

I went out to check on my hypertufa farm this afternoon.  I have eleven students signed up for a class through my local adult ed and I pre made these guys and they're curing for the class.  So students get the full hypertufa experience, in the class we talk all about the ins and outs and then we mix a batch, they pour it and take that one home to cure. Then they'll learn about drilling holes, decorating them and then the hypertufa you see in the picture will be cured by then so they plant them in class with succulents.  They get the entire life cycle of hypertufa.  There are still four spaces left.  Check it out - www.CreativeMeTime.com

Classes, Classes & More Classes
Yay!  Heidi Borchers is debuting her Starbucks Mixed Media Masterpiece!  She's been asked for years to share her technique and we're lucky enough to be in the first class!  You'll be amazed at the art you create using Starbucks paper goods under the guidance of Heidi, who's been an artist all her life. You can leave your piece natural or paint to fit your decor. This is going to be a smashing good time!

Lana and Sloane Simmons from EZScreenPrint, will show how really easy screen printing is - it only takes 60 seconds exposure to the sun to make the screen!  You'll screen print three projects including the Amazingly Fast & Easy Screen Print Wall Art, a tote bag, a tile coaster and take home the supplies to create even more!

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate!  The For the Love of Chocolate class features yummy gourmet chocolate tasting from The Joycup Co. and we'll carry on our theme by decorating a colorful container for your own chocolate stash.  Joan'sgathering trinkets, baubles and doodads from her travels and bringing tons of items from her studio for you to personalize your container.

Succulents are so popular and shoes, well, we all LOVE shoes.  Joan Martin Feecombined the two and came up with an adorable Shoe Succulent Garden using a super easy decoupage process. While the glue is drying,  we'll make lovely Herbal Hand Scrubs, all perfect gifts for the holidays.

There's one more class, but it's a TOP SECRET SURPRISE!  You'll have to wait until Sunday morning of the retreat to find out!

Gifts from the Garden Art & Tasting Workshop

Gifts from the Garden Art & Tasting Workshop

Sunday, April 27th
1:00 – 3:00
Los Osos, California - just down the road from beautiful San Luis Obispo, CA
Teacher – Joan Fee
$40

This workshop has it all!  Shoes, gardening, creativity and tastings at the end!

Mixed Media Artist, Joan Fee will show you how easy it is to create adorable shoe succulent gardens. You’ll use a fun decoupage technique to decorate a shoe to your hearts content with decorative papers and magazines. Joan’s even providing the succulents so you’ll take home a completed Succulent Shoe Garden!

We’ll have a little time while we wait for the decoupage glue to dry so we can plant the succulents, so we’ll create sugar hand scrubs that make your hands feel amazing! They are quick to make and we'll be adding scents of yummy lavender or lemon from local gardens.

Rosemary Salt adds a perfect touch to focaccia bread or your savory dishes.  Joan will show how easily you can whip this up at home, package it up in a cute container and it's ready to give to the cooks on your gift list.  You’ll receive a sample and the recipe to create this at home.
This Gifts from the Garden Art and Tasting Workshop ends with a demonstration on how to simple it is to make yummy Limoncello. We’ll even have a little tasting and discuss ways to use Limoncello for entertaining.

Give yourself the gift of an afternoon of creativity and fun.  Other fun gardening projects are included in the workshop.  Get all of the exciting details and sign-up at www.CreativeMeTime.com

See Canyon San Luis Obispo

Fall is Upon Us

The coast has been fogged in the last few days, so I ventured the 20 minutes to San Luis Obispo for some sunshine. It's amazing in less then 15 minutes the temperature went from 88 to 64. I took See Canyon all the way to the end and it goes into Perfumo Canyon Road that drops out by Madonna Inn.

I HAD to stop at Avila Valley Barn - it's overflowing with pumpkins, corn and many varieties of apples. I even picked up a couple Christmas presents in the gift shop. It's right off of highway 101 south of San Luis Obispo.
