Hypertufa Heart Planter

Some friends who saw these photos thought I was baking a chocolate heart cake but alas, no, it's a hypertufa planter.  Hyper what?  Hypertufa is a mixture of perlite, moss and Portland cement.  When it dries, it is lighter weight than regular cement.  This guy gets to cure for a month in a plastic bag and I can't wait for it to be ready.  I'm having a class in January, just in time for Valentine's Day where you'll make your own hypertufa planter and then you'll plant a planter that I've cured for you with succulents I provide.   Need a perfect gift for that spcial gardener in your life?  Come mix up some fun.

Wire Mesh Envelope Succulent Planter

It isn't even Christmas yet, but I'm thinking ahead to Valentine's Day projects.  Isn't this adorable?  I'm always looking for the next succulent project and I'm very pleased to show you this one.  Be on the lookout for it debuting on the January class list.  It'll be online soon at  Come have a fun afternoon, make the mesh envelope then plant it with a variety of succulents I provide. It's perfect as a gift our something special for you!

I love Publicity!

The local New Times, our county-wide free newspaper, came to the last Succulent Sunday
to feature the workshop for a DIY Holiday feature.  It will be in the paper on Thanksgiving day.  I'm so excited!  The students did a fabulous job and I'm hoping the photographer got some good shots.  I have a couple of more workshops in December so come join the fun and create a stunning succulent wreath.

Gifts from the Kitchen

It was a fabulous day at the studio where we made tons of gifts from the kitchen - we whipped up Coffee and Peppermint Body Scrubs adorned with real coffee beans and bread dough candy canes and holly, Spice Rub for Chicken, Rosemary, Lemon and Garlic Vinegar, Limoncello, Sea Salt Chocolate Caramels plus, tags, tags, tags and labels for everything!  If you missed out, there's another workshop on December 1st.
We even made tags using shrink plastic.
